FM reception in wagon fixed! 850 1995

Ok,

This is too easy. I was rooting around in the back of my 855t while installing a taillight converter (for my trailer) and thought to check the condition of the antenna on the window. My reception has been pretty poor since buying the car and I was even considering a regular whip antenna.

I found that the antenna wasn't connected to anything! It has what looks like a 9-volt battery connector and there was nothing there. I had already removed the CD changer so I could get under the floor so I pulled back the side panel and the foam/felt sound insulation and there it was. The antenna lead and connector. How long it's been like that I don't know. I just bought the car 3 months ago and time has been short. The connector is too large to fit through the hole for the cable so the panel had to be pulled loose in order for it to drop inside. Anyway, apparantly the previous owner just lived with the poor reception on the low end of the band. They obviously didn't listen to NPR. Now my receiver works GREAT!
