The $0.16 driver's seat 'click' fix....

Tools: 14mm metric socket, rachet, extension

Parts: 4 (four) 7/16 ID steel washers, $0.04x4 = $0.16 plus tax, Home Depot OR 4 US nickels, $0.05x4=$0.20.

Time: 1 hour, including trip to Home Depot.

Here's what I did....

Removed LF bolt, finessed 2 washers under the mounting point. Replaced bolt.

Removed RR bolt. Finessed 2 washers under the mounting point. Replaced bolt.

Tightened everything.

As others have indicated, the washers are probably more secure than the nickels. Also, just one washer in each of the two positions is not enough to eliminate the noise.

Since I'm a congenital klutz and I didn't want to risk dropping a washer in the floor and creating yet another rattle, I covered the holes in the floor with masking tape..

This seems to eliminate about 80% of the "clicking". I'd think that the clicking occurs because the power seat mechanism has become worn, so the shimming takes some of the "slack" out. I also think it will continue to loosen as the car ages.....

...so I don't think this is a "permanent" fix. And I plan to check the tightness of the bolts regularly.

As was stated previously, the miniature "shock absorbers" list for around $200, so this is a savings of $199.80 PLUS labor IF it works! So far, so good.
