Volvo service-read between the lines. V70-XC70 1999

I think you are missing the spirit of his post. Of course, all cars are becoming more complicated and increasingly require support from the dealer; however, manufacturers are not making sure that the dealers are providing the adequate service and repairs to sustain this evolution. It's akin to having a big national restaurant chain revamp its menu without teaching the individual locations how to cook the new items.

My father operates an indy shop in a town with an infamously inadequate dealer repair shop. I thank Volvo for having such a poor hold over its dealers. Their lack of leadership has financed some very nice gifts to me from my parents.

I own a '98 V70 and have the warranty work done at the dealer (I live in another city), but once the warranty period is over, Volvo will not see another dime from me until they clean up their repair network. It shouldn't have taken me several trips to the dealer to have a problem continually misdiagnosed only to take it to my father and have him diagnose the problem and in turn have the dealer repair what HE found. How many Volvo customers have this luxury?!?
