Wheel alignment 850 1996

Hi! Tell me, is it difficult to check/set wheel alignment on an 850, or is it just the tyre shop I wwnt to who have difficulty?

I hit near side front wheel on a kerb (mine is a right hand drive). Not hard, and car drove fine afterwards, but I felt compelled to have alignment checked.

I've had nothing but problems since it has been adjusted.

Car used to run 'true' with steering wheel slighty to right - actuall in line with steering column cover/shroud.

Now since adjsutment (b bunch of idiots in my opinion) I'm forever holding steering wheel to the left while car wants to go right. They keep telling me (after going back 4 times) there's no problem. The also claim to have adjusted rear toe (though on inspection the bolts dont look as if they've been touched) and I'm not sure if rear is adjustable.

Car puuls to the right more/harder the faster I go.

I've noticed at about 30mph on flat straight road, the wheel will 'find its own position' which is where it used to be, that is slightly to 1 o'clock position, and car will travel right, with steering wheel in that position, and carry on like that.

Is there a 'right and wrong way' to check'adjust 4 wheel alignment? Is there a 'dead centre' and a 'within tolerance' which isn't really good enough? Does the steering wheel need to be in the slightly 1 o'clock position with road wheels set ahead (which is how a friends T5 is set - and has never been adjusted).

Help!

I think I just need to go somewhere else and pay again.

Thanks,

Kevin

ps - after nearly 2,000 miles of driving like this, the front tyres are ok, with no apparent abnormal wear
