Sure he could. But at the cost of doing such an "upgrade" he might as well get a big brake upgrade.

The thing is, he proposed this as a cost savings measure. There is no way in heck that buying AWD brake components from Volvo would be cheap in anyway. I'm sure the total cost would be just as high as a complete brake upgrade for the car.

Nowadays, you can get brake upgrades for less than $2000 US. They will come with rotors (solid, vented, cross-drilled, or a combination of), new mounts for the calipers, high performance calipers, stainless steel braided brake lines, etc, for all four corners.
