Stuck In Park - Intermittantly 850 1995

I recently purchased a 95 850 with 89,000 miles on the odometer. The gentleman I purchased the car from informed me that sometimes in order to get the car out of PARK, the Shift Overide button needed to be depressed. At the time of purchase, and for the next two weeks there was no problem. Then yesterday the problem appeared! I know that there is a micro switch that controlls a solenoid and there is a connection to the brake light switch, but what perplexes me is that the problem appears and disappears intermittantly. Does anyone else out there have experience with an intermittant problem of this nature? Any help would be appreciated, as the last thing I want to do is pay my Volvo dealership for diagnostic time for an intermittant problem!
