thinking about buying S40-V40

I have a S40 '00. I bought it in '99 and now have over 70K miles on it. I have experienced the head lamp problems (replaced 3 times) reported but it was eventually fixed. I had to replace the brake pads at 50K miles. I drive highway a lot. Replaced tires at 60K. I also have experienced the check engine light problem. This occurred for me when I did not tighten the gas cap. I take the car to the dealer for maintenance and have had good service support. The only complaint I have is with the radio system. You may have read the bulletins about that.

This is my first Volvo and I bought it for its safety features. Unlike the other cars I have purchased I plan to keep it in the family for a long time. I really don't have a choice with the miles I have on it. My next car won't be purchased for another 3-4 years but at this writing it will definitely be another Volvo.
