Fuel gauge registering empty but it's full! V70-XC70 2001

Noticed my fuel gauge was on "E" and the message window registered "--- miles to empty tank" I swore that earlier in the day it said I still had around 75 miles until empty. Put gas in and no change. Fuel gauge and message window still register empty! Anyone have any ideas as to what's causing this? Or do I have to take it back to the dealer for the 5th time in the 3 1/2 months that I've owned it.
