2 Cent of Advice- Check your Jack ! 850

Hey guys,

While replacing my 850's fuel filter this afternoon I decided to pull out the factory spare tire jack(why, I dunno).

To my surprise, the treads on the big screw of the jack were really crudded up with rust and stuff - making all but impossible to crank. Had I had a flat, the jack would have been useless as it would not crank (I'm fairly strong).

No water in the spare tire well- thank goodness. Must have been the humidity over the years.

I took a wire brush to it and then lubed it up with some left over Mobil 1 Synthetic grease and it works like new again.

Glad I found and fixed the prob before we had a flat.

Thought I'd share this with the group- as the lowly spare jack is probably the most neglected part on the car.

Keep the Good Posts Coming - I love this Board and Volvospeed!!
