93/94/95 - how different (can they be) from 96/97? 850

I'm wondering if I should expand my search and look at '94/'95 850's,
not just '96/'97 models.

I forget where I read, but on one of the Volvo forum sites, it lists
96/97 as recommended, but 94/95 as NOT recommended.

My question is, once the car has had all the things fixed by now
(hopefully), what differentiates the two groups?

A different way of asking this question is, what are the items that
don't get normally fixed in 5-8 years, and can possibliy cause touble?
engine? transmission? I assume body integrity isn't much different.
I know they added SIPS in '96, but that's a minor addition for me.

Your opinion is appreciated.
