Anyone know specs for lifters? 850

I pulled all the lifters from my head as well as the used head. I have them soaking in tranny fliud right now... since last night. I have some questions about them...

Should there be definate spring action in them?

If so how much?

Strange thing is.. out of 40 lifters I only have about 10 with definate spring action.. the others the little plunger stays bottomed out unless I pull it up (thats how I had to get them to fill with the fluid) This is a very sorry and inconsistant lifter design.

Thoughts?
