What is an anti-sway bar? 850

Sorry for posting such a simple question.

What is it? What does it do?
Better yet, is there a site that talks about car mechanics
in simple terms, so I don't keep posting these silly questions?
(My next one might be, what's a tire?)

Do all 850's come with it, or only on turbo models?

Can it be fitted to a 940 (base)? Will it change the ride
characteristics?

I guess I jammed in several questions in one post... :)
