Hi Erwin

I don't think it is the splash shield (mine doesn't have anything to protect the intercooler either - dunno where it mounted - info?).

I looked more closely at it, the top of it clips to the lower part of the plastic cowling visible in front of the AC condenser, and it wraps around the rear of what I will call the "bumper" (I'm English!!!). It almost touches the A/C cooler and effectively blocks a huge portion of it.. It doesn't aseem to me to have any useful function, but I am ready to be corrected.
