Sorry to hear about your problems, although this Board here is primarily a place for venting (unlike other Volvo-related sites) and it's a shame that Volvo's whatever problems are magnified here. Unfortunately, Volvo has had a couple of tough model years but since its models have returned to old respectable reliability levels (results like the recent JD Power & Associates Initial Quality glowing remarks for Volvo are always fine print since they are positive...anyway...) you don't see these positive developments anywhere...that is human nature...always focus on the negative stuff.
But Volvo owners are not as blind as you think. The titel for the blind goes to such as owners as BMW's. I am sure you are aware of what is going on with BMW engines on M3s, X5s and M5s where they are blowing like fireworks at a tune of $17,000 to $25,000 EACH! Cars with 6,000 to 15,000 miles are on their 2nd engine already. The BMW dealership across the street from us replaced TWENTY-SEVEN engines LAST MONTH alone! 2 7 ! ! ! ! ! But where is CR to lambast them? Of course that is not going to happen with the darling of the media, BeeEmTroubleYou...But that is blinding loyalty...The average BMW owner thinks that there is nothign better in the world than his/her car and is willing to overlook. Can you imagine if Volvos had to replace their engines/transmissions
with that frequency??
I have seen your posts here, I know you and I have butted heads before, I do not know you but I am sad to see you not get a Volvo; from one side I understand your frustration but from the other I wish you stuck it out.
Anyway, perhaps in the future.
Yannis
