You like J.D. Powers Initial Quality Survey as opposed to long-term quality surveys

I'll bet if Consumer Reports put Volvo (or one of the Volvo models) on the reliable list you would concur with them. Hundreds of thousands of surveys returned from CR subscribers make up most of CR's rating. IMO, J.D.s Initial Quality rating doesn't mean much compared to CR's long-term quality ratings. When you say every car company has their problems -- that is a fact. What you fail to mention is the frequency-of-repairs varies by a wide margin. Problems are much, much less with a Lexus make compared with a Volvo make -- and that is a fact, too.
