Whoops, just posted empty message...
My .02 on this AC recharge issue. Here's what I do on my '93 850:
The 6 Nm cap is black and has a yellow R134 label hanging from it (mine does anyway). This is the fill port you want. I have a slow leak in my system and when the compressor starts cycling on/off, happens about every year or two, I get one 12 oz. can of refrigerant with a small oil charge/seal conditioner included in it (Castrol seems good here). I use the whole can, no less no more. After that the AC works super, until the wife starts complaining again...
I've never bothered with a pressure gauge, just monitor the cabin temperature and compressor function properly when filling. Better too little than too much, and I've found that 12 oz. is just right for my system as soon as the compressor starts exhibiting the on/off cycling behavior.
Also, someone mentioned on this board that it was hard or even impossible to attach the fill hose to the LP port. Well, I have to say it took me a minute to figure it out again the other day: the outer ring/lock ring on my fill hose fitting has to be lifted up before the fitting is pushed onto the port. Then release the lock ring and it should hold the hose securely onto the port. Does this explanation make sense? It's so simple it might even be what you were looking for! I still kick myself over that one...
Cheers,
Joakim
