Eating & Adding Oil after 2000 miles?? 850 1996

A quart every 2000 miles is pretty decent oil consumption.

Most articles that I have read state that various manufacturers do not consider oil consumption high unless it exceeds a quart in 1000 to 1500 miles.

We have two Volvos with over 225,000 miles, one uses a quart in about 1500 miles, and the other seems to use no oil, go figure. This car seems to have cleaner oil at change time than our others.

Policy in our family is to check fluids and tires weekly, I would do this even if I ever buy a new car.

I have owned several old bombs that would "create" oil between changes during the winter, and yeild slightly higher readings as time went by. Of course, when I drained the oil, it looked more like gasoline than oil!
