94 850 would not shift ot of 2nd gear in hot Palm Springs. 850

1994 850 would not shift out of 2nd gear in hot Palm Springs today, the temperature was over 110 and I was going up a hill and noticed that it was not shifting out of 3 then after the next stop it would not shift out of 2nd.
After stopping for a while it worked fine.

I just had the transmission serviced.

Any one know what might be up with this car, I just bought it 2 weeks ago and it has 105,000 miles.
