Common problem. The switch contacts burn. You have to remove the console to get the switch pack out. I got one from a salvage yard for about $50 instead of a new one. I have taken my switches apart and reconditioned the contacts. Now I have a spare set for next time.
Taking the switch assy apart is quite a job but it can be done. I suspect there must be a way to install capacitors on the switches to prevent the arcing but I haven't had time to mess with that yet.
