Cat Bypass 850 1994

Going around in circles, still ! I'm intending to gut cat on 1994 850 turbo/IPD ECU and exhaust. Sure that using old cat as resonator will be quieter than just pipe. Two questions to which I've gotten directly conflicting answers. First, what , if any inside noise level change. Second, what about downstream O2 sensor reading causing a code ? I've heard both that code will always be there, that it will come on only after long steady cruise, that it will not come on at all ! I suspect the IPD ECU upgrade may have wider latitude to second sensor readings. This could explain different answers. Not a new subject, but really conflicting statements here and on other boards. What's the latest on inside noise and light ?
