Spark Plug Wiring Insulation S70 2000

I recently changed the spark plugs in my vehicle (31,000 original miles) and noticed that the spark plug wiring insulation was dried, cracked and brittle to the point where it was flaking-off/turning to dust upon contact with my fingers. Has anyone else experienced this? The vehicle is still under warranty and the dealer's fix was to just wrap the wiring in tape (at no charge to me). Is this an adequate fix or should I return to the dealer and have them replace the wiring insulation completely? My main concern is having adequate protection of the wiring over the long term.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Steve
