Bilsteins are too firm - so say many here.
I've owned my 850 Turbo since new- and the oem suspension was marginal when new and at 70K miles is inadequate for anything but smooth road conditions. That said, the struts and shocks pass muster on the tried and true (?) four corner bumper push-down bounce test.
However, if I hit a dip at speed the suspension acts like it want to bottom out and the car "wallows: ( is that a real word?).
Anyhow, as I approach the day that the struts and shocks are replaced- what are my best options?
1) Stay OEM
2) Bilsteins ( I already have kids so sterility caused by a harsh ride is no concern)
3) Konis Struts and Bilstein shocks on the derriere - I 've read on this board that this may be the best combination.
I do not plan/intend on switching out the stock springs.
I am curious though, are the Bilsteins really that unbearable? What were the expectations of the driver?
If firm means the car no longer "wallows" over dips - then firm may be good. On the other hand, if running over a penny causes your coffee cup to end up on your head it's tooo firm.
Anyone with Bilsteins that likes them care to comment?
Thanks ,
