tailgate lock V70-XC70 1999

ok,this is for my moms V70, it's being retarded as always, and the power lock to the trunk isn't working at all. when i push the button on the door, i hear a sound in the dash implying somethings goin on, but i look back, and it's still locked, the remote opener does nothing for the gate either. it was fine and dandy a couple weeks ago, what went wrong?
