Cut to the Chase - What are the Best Struts/Shocks for the 850? 850

Nathan,

I just went through the Bilstein shock/strut ordeal (in my opinion), and found them too harsh. They did control that wallow beautifully at highway speed, felt more controlled in curves, and virtually eliminated brake dive, but since I drive approx. 800 miles per week, the feeling of every pebble in my butt became tiresome after about 8 weeks. My CD changer didn't like them either, as it skipped alot more. The person I sold them to was quite pleased with them, at least so far, so it is really a matter of how much you're willing to put up with. Anyone who says that the magical two stage valving really soaks up those expansion joints in roads is either dreaming, or driving on some pretty smooth roads.

I've gone with new OEM R shocks and struts, and while they don't control the car as well as the Bilsteins, I don't cringe over every bump. The springs are original.

Godd luck with your decision,

Perry
