Blower fan sounding like a turbo! 850 1994

All of a sudden, the air conditioning blower motor is vibrating or humming like its a hopped up turbo unit! Very loud. Assuming its the impellers rubbing/hitting something in there. Not seen any messages posted here talking about such problems with 850's (my 240 always has that problem). Once the auto fan control gets the temp to right level and slows the fan down, it becomes minimal noise.

So, questions are:

Has anyone had such problems? If so, what was the cause/remedy?

Whats the effort to dig in there to find out the cause?

Thanks ahead of time...
