850 T-5 Check Engine Light woes 850 1997

I have a 1997 Volvo 850 T-5, with 98k miles or so and the check engine light came on yesterday. I didn't forget to screw on the gas cap last time I got gas (I did, however mix 87 Octane, with 91 in my tank, however I strongly doubt that this would have anything to do with this). Anyhow, it seems like there has been a slight drop in power, as the boost gauge registers a little boost, however I don't hear the turbo spool up like it used to and it seems like I can't get the gauge to go very deep into the white. A couple of questions, has anyone ever had this problem? How soon do I need to take it in (am I going to damage the car by driving it???) Any ideas on what it might be/could I fix it myself. If you could shoot me an email at C04nathan.reynen@usafa.edu (that's c zero four), or just reply or whatever, I'd be much appreciative. Thanks!!!!!
Nate
