What code was set? If your check engine light is on, there could be any number
of problems, so first you need to get the code. Unfortunately, yours is a 97 and can't be read without a code scanner. However, if your turbo isn't acting properly, i'd say you have a vacuum leak (VERY common).

Check all vacuum lines thoroughly.
