a/c question - Is R134a Poisonous? 850

I believe that my 1995 850 T5 needs a recharge. talking to volvo hear in the uk they told me that they have to recycle the r134 in the system and this could be costly.

Also if my system is leaking r134 would it be dangerous if i was to beathe it in while in the car could this be dangerous to my health.

Do anyone know of a company that would mail a recharge kit from the usa to the UK. I cant seem to get one here.
