front suspension problem solved 850 1994

I had a strange squeaking coming from the front suspension. It drove me crazy until I FINALLY figured it out. And it's surprising what was at fault...

It wasn't the IPD swaybar or bushings - I greased them throughly.
It wasn't the lower control arms/balljoints - found that out when I replaced them and the noise was still there (though the ball joints were shot anyway)
It wasn't the strut mounts - I had replaced them a year ago with my bilstiens.
Nor was it any other front component. All my friends were stumped as well - as were the mechanics I was embarrasingly forced to seek adivise from.

Surprisingly, the noise was being caused by the rear IPD swaybar that had snapped (also the cause of some annoying rear rattling!). The rear bar had effectivly stopped doing it's job. So the rear of the car was flexing like mad! (I thought it felt kinda wierd) and the front was like a rock - creating some sort of chassis flex. YES, the noise stopped when I disconnected my front sway bar (as a desparate measure to seek the cause of the noise).

The noise was coming from the front chassis mounts (the rubber bushing just behind and to the outside of the swaybar bushings). so when IPD gets around to redesigning a rear bar that won't snap I'm alright again.

Just some helpful info for some 850 owners...

1994 850T IPD swaybars, K&N, Bilsteins, mobil 1 syn, some other things I can't remember.
