Funny Smell when Heat is ON 850 1995

Hi,

In last couple days, there is a smell coming out of the center vents ONLY when I turn on the heat. It smells like burnt. I checked the driver and passenger foot wells, no wet carpet. I turn on the windshield defroster and no foggy on the lower part of windshield.

What I had noticed that was the Auto-trans hoses (upper and lower) connectors on the radiator were rusted. The lower connector seems a bit "wet" by judging on the color of the rust : dark brown instead of lite brown in the sunny dry day.

Auto-trans shifts and runs fine. Temperature gauge at the 3 o'clock position.

Heater core was replaced about 1 year ago due to wet driver side carpet.

Could it be a coolant leak or ATF leaks into the heater core or both ??

Any suggestion is appreciated.
