Removing dash top for recirculation motor removal 850 1994

I just replaced my dash light bulbs as described at bay 13, but I would like to remove the whole dash top so that I can change the damper motor for the climate control.

it looks like only the air bag was holding the top on, on the passenger side. Does any one know if this is the case and is there a real danger of it going off?

The useless Haynes manual says this motor can be changed by removing the glove box, from what I can see not a chance!

Thanks, Mark
