Occasional Exhaust Smoke 850 1996

I recently bought a 96 855R with only 47K. Unfortunately, I created the number one used car buying sin... I didn't have it checked out by a mechanic before buying it. I did however get an extended warranty. Well, a few weeks after buying the car I was in traffic and noticed the car smoking pretty bad. After smoking for about 30 seconds, it stopped. I have noticed it a few times since and it seems to only happen at idle and after a period of hard driving or 30+ minutes of highway speed driving has occured. Plus, it never lasts for more than 30 seconds. The oil level has not changed in the past two months but then again, this is an occasional event so that might not be useful information.

Before I take the car to the mechanic, I would like to know if anyone has had a similar experience and might know what is causing it? I hope it is covered under the extended warranty.
