Caliper seizing S70 1998

Help, first post.
Serious wheel shudder (like an unbalanced tire) at 110k after about 10 minutes on the highway. Pulled off and the left front caliper was smoking. Drove home via city streets and no problem. I have checked the wheel and it turns freely. Is it possible that the flex hose is broken inside? I have never seen a caliper seize then unseize itself. Brake fluid changed yearly etc....New rear rotors and pads last month, (dealer parts) fronts half worn. Any ideas please...
