1995 960 sound system interchangable with 95 850 t5-r? 850 1995

I saw someone selling a used oem sound system from a 95 960 on ebay...

right now I am just interested in the cd changer...would that work in my 850 t5-r without purchasing any additional adaptors or brackets etc..?

From my understanding, even if my car is pre-wired for a cd changer, i would still have to replace the cable unless it is a volvo oem changer, and purchase an adaptor...is this correct? Also, has anyone experienced any problems mounting their aftermarket changer in the trunk (particularly alpine)?
