My car just died.. S70 1998

I had to go into the dealer tonight for a totally unrelated fix. As I was leaving the dealer and accelerating onto a ramp the engine literally died on me. I'm not sure if this was a good thing to do but I was really close to an off ramp and in a construction zone so I coasted to that exit where it then died.

Unfortunately it was a shady area of town so I was a little bit nervous waiting for over an hour. After some relentless beggars and this one person who wouldn't leave me alone, the tow truck finally came and dragged the Volvo to the dealer.

I have VIP so thank you for a least this one occasion as Volvo On-call came to my rescue.

The tow truck driver did try to start it but it died after running for a second. The engine did sound like it was dieseling (the best I can describe it).

Does anyone have any clue to what it could be? It just didn't sound fuel or electronic related because it didn't die immediately and could start for a second. The check engine light was on so I hope they see the issue right away.
