Front door speakers R&R grilles or whole &*%# door panel? S70 1999

Blown bass on righthand front door speaker on '99 S70 T5. Replacement en route from Crutchfield. Crutchfield just called to advise that they think that this requires removal of whole door panel; I was under impression it was pop the grille, drill new holes, drop in the speaker, put the grille back, and party on down. Anybody got hands-on info on this? If not, any genuinely amusing ribald suggestions not requiring the services of the Crutchfield staff proctologist?

TIA
