headlight bulb burnout rate 850 1995

HI,
I posted a query a few weeks back concerning the high bulb burnout rate on my wife`s 95 855. Thanks to all who replied regarding voltage regulator & clean con tact points. She had the car into the dealer shortly after & the above items were given a clean bill of health. The service rep told her that the bulb attrition rate on the 850 models is very high & it`s basically "normal";"We get 10/20cars in here daily to replace headlight bulbs" was another comment.
I somehow can`t believe that this problem is something that should be considered "normal" & just fork out $20 every 8-12 wks for another bulb. THat`s my "rant", we love the car otherwise!
