Alternator 850 1996

I recently went through this, although my batter was about 1.5 years old. Thought it couldn't be the battery, must be the alternator. Everyone said check the battery first, the dealer said let them check it first (since battery was bought from them) so to keep everyone quiet, that's what I did. Guess what? It was the battery! They said it can go bad after a week or never, there's no predicting. Anyway, I was glad because they pro-rated the battery and it only cost $45 instead of a couple of hundred!
