Drains in the channel around my trunk were blocked - Better fix?

The other day I noticed that one of the drains at the front corners of my trunk was blocked. (1995 850 base sedan) Later I found that both drains were blocked.

I dismantled the trunk lining and removed the drain hose. The problem is a crimp in the hose where it goes through a fitting in the trunk vent body.

I cleaned the hose out and repositioned it a bit and it flows freely now, but the crimp is still there. I did the other side as well.

I plan on putting a piece of spring inside the end of the hose to maintain a passage through the bottom fitting and to install a restriction in the drain that is slightly smaller than the spring. That way, if something fits into the drain, it will pass through the hose.

Does anyone have a better remedy?

BTW - The hose takes an elbow to the rear almost as soon as it leaves the drain.
If you bend a piece of springy insulated wire a bit to pass this elbow, you can snake it all the way down to the bottom of the drain to clear it out.
If you look under the car at the rear you can see the drain protrude.
