Tranny probs... please help! 850 1995

My father-in-law is a big time car enthusiast and is pretty meticulous about keeping cars in tip-top shape. The car has about 90k miles and was driven cross-country from the greater New York area about 5 years ago. Other than that, the car really hasn't been driven hard nor subjected to harsh weather conditions and from what I know has been serviced according to dealer specs...

just out of curiousity though, do you know what is the interval for changing the tranny fluid on these cars is? Is there a high rate of failure in these trannys? I read on another site that this may be the case for the 850s.
