My 850 is Really Smoking - Whatzup ? 850

New issue with my 95 850 Turbo with 71K miles.

After a few days of sitting in the driveway I started the car and had it reach operating temp in the driveway. As the engine warmed up a plume of smoke began emitting from the firewall side of the engine. Definately engine oil being burned off- the smell was distinctive. Seemed to be coming from about the middle of the cylinder head (valve cover?) at the firewall side of the bay. Did not appear to be coming from the lower end of the engine.

After 15 minutes the smoking ceased - evidently whatever residual oil had burned off.

Had not added oil recently, so don't believe it was a burn off of spillage from filling the engine.

I'll check again to confirm problem wasn't a fluke (unlikely).

Do the valve cover gaskets go bad on these cars and is it difficult to replace?

Thanks,

nathan ( a friend of murphey)
