Why would you think Amsoil doesn't easily exceed the minimilist API tests? It does.

API is a very base standard. It is NOT a standard of excellence. Yes some very nasty store brand petroleum oils have failed the few random sample inspections that API does but for the most part it's been a toothless "approval".

But why should the formulation be controlled by the API? Makes no sense to the owner of Amsoil.
