Yes, yes, I know all that.

I use synthetic oil (though many 'synthetics' are less synthetic than they used to be, and some may not be synthetic at all save for a dollop of something synthetic).

The fact is, there are precious few facts available. Just an outdated USDOD report, now rendered obsolete by the recent change in Mobil1's formula. By 'facts' I mean unbiased, independent research on the subject. All the 'research' comes from the producers and the API, a craven captive of the petroleum interests. Follow the research back far enough, and you're usually on an Amsoil dealer's website quoting Amsoil research.

So we know synth is better. Ot at least some of them are better. But how much better? And which ones?
