You can use 0W-30 anyplace a 5W-30 or 10W-30 is recommended. I use AMSOIL 0W-30 in all my cars, as do my 3 daughters and 1 son-in-law. (The other has an old 242turbo that is about shot, so he's using AMSOIL Series 2000 20W-50).

In non-turbo, the 0W-30 is good for 35,000/1 year, with AMSOIL oil filter change at 12,500 OR 6 months (other brand 7500 or 6 months).
In turbos, the recommendation is up to 3 times the recommended interval OR 1 year. AMSOIL filter change 12,500 OR 6 months. I normally change 0W-30 after 10,000 miles or a year in my turbos.

You still have to pull the dipstick from time to time.
