You CAN push the Volvo to the same horsepower numbers...but you've got to heavily modify the engine, and rebuild every 5-10k miles. Plus you have to upgrade the drivetrain, suspension and braking systems, too.

The Cosworth engine is from a company known for it's engineering contributions to racing....and the insane amount of attention and maintenance that entails. I don't expect we'd like our Volvos if we had to tear the engine down every month or so.
