Control arm failure 850

if you make sharp turns as in parallel parking or u-turns and you hear clunking or similar noise from your front end, then chances are your control arm (ball joint)/tie rods? are shot. still $1000 i think is way too much, esp if you have a 93-94 cause you can change the ball joints on these models alone unlike the later models where you have to change the whole "A" assembly.
