v70 GLT sunroof V70-XC70 1998

My wife has a '98 V70 GLT that we bought new in late '97. The car and has been well maintained and serviced promptly at all of the regular service intervals. Recently at 70K, the sunroof on the car will not open. The switch to open/close the sunroof will make a small noise but not operate the sunroof.
Has anyone else had this happen and if so, what did you do to solve the problem? I initially thought that it might be a fuse, but the switch seems to work momentarily and I am not sure what else to check.
