Latest on the XC90...

I assume you are in the US; the variants offered here will be the 2.5T (2.5L engine, 208 HP) and the T6 (2.9L engine, 268-270 HP). The 2.5T will get the 5-speed Geartronic transmission whereas the T6 engine will come with the 4-speed Geartronic transmission.

There is a far reaching thought of also certifying the great D5 (turbodiesel) engine for the North American market but I kind of doubt it. In Europe, there will be one or two other variants going into the XC90 bay (2.0L High Pressure Turbo, I-5 engine and the 2.9L I-6 normally aspirated found in the current S80 2.9).

As I wrot in my original post, there is an extremely good chance that the XC90 R will eventually take place in a couple of model years; the only debate is what engine to bring it out with. In Sweden they are supporting the V8-idea but many Volvo executives here want the high performance 5-cyl. engine that will be in the S60 R and V70 R.
