Expensive Low Life Tires -- Alternatives S80 2000

Discount Tire Company want $221 plus tax for each tire for the
17 inch 225-50-17 Michelins that came with the S80. They are
special order and no other company makes the same size. I'm told
they may only go 15,000 to 20,000 miles. I got 30,000 of the
first set (lucky I guess). Does anyone know a more affordable
way to replace these tires? I dont like the prospect of $1,000
every 20,000 miles.
