Volvo & real life crash situations 850

Hi
Sadly,three young women were killed here on the wk-end when their Volvo wagon crossed the center line & hit a Dodge Durango SUV head on. It`s impossible to tell from the news pix what model the Volvo was( I`m guessing an 850) since the the front end was impossible to recognize. It was absolutely "toast" which was a a shocking surprise to me given that Volvo touts the structural integrity of the cabin space as a safety feature. The Dodge showed extensive damage to the front end but the passenger compartment was reasonably intact & the passengers received non-life threatening injuries.
Of course, I`m not suggesting that driving a Volvo guarantees that any & all accidents are survivable but seeing the Volvo in the news pic was a shock!
BTW, I drive an 850 wagon.
